Getting Around the City

Once again, just like Paris, I'm a little bit nervous about traveling to my desitinations. In New York, you can rely on your feet, a cab, or the subway system for getting around. Hopefully we choose a hotel that's within walking distance to many of the destinations. I talked to my brother about what he thought was the best way to get around and he says it depends on how many you've got with you. Probably for my family of 5 a cab is the best way to go because it should cost a little less unless it's a really far distance. If it's just 1 or 2 of you then the subway would be cheaper. They say if you're a really familiar with the city, then the subway is easy, but if not then a cab is probably best. I will try the subway at least once with the kids though because I heard that it's really fun for them to get up in the first car and look where they are going. It's a really cheap thrill ride I guess.

Last week I was late for work and took a taxi from Columbus Circle to Tribeca (60 or 70 blocks) and the fare was $12.

Hi JAIM, What a fun Idea. I hope you get to do a lot of traveling. We have enjoyed what we have done and we aren't sure we want to do a lot more. Maybe a trip to Denmark for Dean especially and one back east to see the church sites. We have a subway here but it is so crowded and hot and it is so easy to be robbed we prefer taxis but it is really expensive here unless you share. Have fun dreaming and may all your dreams come true. Love YA
