The Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is named for it's crossing over the Golden Gate which is the opening of San Francisco Bay into the Pacific Ocean. This bridge connects the city of San Francisco to Marine County. When it was first built, the Golden Gate Bridge had the longest bridge span in the world. It has since been surpassed, but is still an incredible sight to see. The best way to experience the Golden Gate Bridge is of course on foot, but it can be windy and cold, so it is recommended to park at the start and walk a ways onto the bridge to experience the spectacular views and then go back to the car and drive all the way across.
