Most likely I will never have a reason to stay right downtown in San Francisco because we get a deal at the airport hotels, but some of the hotels look really fun so I thought I'd make a list anyways. The first two are good for the whole family and the rest are luxury...
1. Hotel Del Sol - This one is a great family hotel. Completely renovated with bright cheery colors. Rated CitySearch's Best Budget Hotel and Best Hotel Pool. Continental breakfast. Free beachballs and sunglass for the kids.
2. Argonaut Hotel - Great location on Fishman's Wharf near the Maritime Museum. Nautical theme. Gifts from a treasure chest for the kids on arrival.
3. The Fairmont and The Ritz Carlton - Both of these hotels are similar in their elegance and class and both are located on Nobb hill. The Fairmont has a long history in San Francisco so it is one to just go and visit.
4. Four Seasons Hotel - Very elegant and discreet. Fabulous spa and fitness center. If you're looking for luxury this is the one for you.
